INDEPENDENT OPERA proudly presented its 2018-19 scholarship recipients, joined by highly-acclaimed pianist, Simon Lepper.

From the spiritual to the celestial, this collection of works explored the humour, joy and pathos of the human condition.  The evening featured songs and arias by Handel, R Schumann, Schubert, Mozart, Bizet, Donizetti and Bernstein and the world première of a song cycle by Russian born composer Elena Langer and British poet and librettist Glyn Maxwell. Clips from the recital are available to watch on Independent Opera's YouTube channel.

The IO Voice Scholarship was a £5,000 award which supported singers' tuition fees.  Award recipients were offered the opportunity to perform in the annual recital at the Wigmore Hall and attend mentoring events with leading industry professionals.
